The castle is built on top of 139 m steep cliff and has spectacular overlooking on the lake Bled. The castle is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Slovenia.
Bled Castel was mentioned for the first time in 1004 when German emperor Henry II gave it to bishop Albuin. This makes the castle one of the oldest in Slovenia. The castle buildings are grouped around two courtyards.
